Having worked with food businesses for the past 25 years on the development and marketing of healthier foods, I’ve had the opportunity to work on some fabulous projects – from innovation in new product development, to advising on pack claims, and the analysis and application of food, health and nutrition trends to business and marketing strategy.
However as the business of food changes, it’s clear we need to do more to connect with consumers evolving definition of what it means for a food to be considered ‘healthy’. It is becoming virtually impossible, and perhaps even irresponsible, to refer to foods as healthy based simply on their nutritional profile and ingredient list. For food businesses, this means building on what we know and stretching our thinking further.
With health and wellness a key driver of consumers purchasing decisions, I now speak, write and advise food businesses about preparing for the future by taking action today. I work in the following 3 areas:
Raising awareness of the mega-forces influencing the future of food and understanding their impact on consumers evolving definition of ‘healthy’.
Working with teams to create food centred values that enable brands to stand out by standing for something greater than the end product developed, distributed and sold.
Advising on communication strategies that enable brands to connect with consumers in an impactful and meaningful way.
